In tax law, the ability to offset negative results with profits from past or future exercises of other income generated in the same exercise by the same taxpayer (individual or legal entity). In Spain, for personal income tax (IRPF), loss compensation is carried out by offsetting negative bases with positive bases of future exercises during the immediate and successive five years after the tax period in which the loss occurred.
